Magnetic Solutions
Background
Magnetic Solutions is the world’s leading manufacturer of magnetic annealing systems.
Their products are used by computer memory manufacturers to build most of the world’s hard disk drives and many semiconductor devices as well. Research and development labs and universities worldwide also use their systems to develop future products and materials.
Customers buy their products because they consistently deliver the highest throughput and reliability in the industry. In addition, they have the flexibility to be used in a variety of customer-specific applications, and can be modified to accommodate changing customer needs.
The Challenge
Magnetic Solutions approached Dara Creative to refresh their out-dated brand identity and create a new image that clearly conveys their key qualities of reliability, expertise and throughput. The new identity needed to be dynamic and contemporary and reflect a modern science and engineering company. It also had to maintain a visual association with their old identity.
The brand identity is currently being rolled out across a broad range of marketing materials including their corporate website, multi-language brochures and clothing.
Our Approach
The project kicked off with a tour of their premises and their state of the art clean rooms. Key to this project was having a clear understanding and grasp of the technology and their unique service offering.
This was then followed by a detailed look at their industry competitors and identifying key opportunities that would help differentiate them. From this we established a set of unique selling points and brand values to make their proposition attractive to potential clients.
We concluded that Magnetic Solutions needed to be seen as an expert team of magnetic annealing specialists who work closely with their clients to deliver effective and dependable solutions, backed up by a world leading service and support network.
Once we had established these new brand values we commenced work on refreshing their identity.
Taking the original symbol, we slightly simplified the elements to create a more streamlined, recognisable marque. By simply skewing the ‘wafer’, the identity takes on a new meaning. It now looks dynamic and modern and better reflects the brand values of professionalism and innovation. We then provided them with an extensive brand guidelines document to help ensure the proper use of their new identity.
Once the branding was agreed, we started organising the photography. We completed 2 separate shoots - one at their premises to capture their engineering expertise in their clean rooms and a second to represent their client service and back up.
The next phase of the project was the planning, design and build of their new corporate website.
Using the great new photography and the new branding style, we created a design that looked contemporary, focused and truly reflected their innovative solutions. It had to be clear and intuitive to use with clearly defined areas promoting featured products and calls to action.
The site features their full range of solutions and support materials. It also has easily accessible contact information for their world wide support.

Result
The end result is a fresh new identity that truly represents the expertise and experience of Magnetic Solutions. They now have a fully featured website that engages with their clients and provides all the necessary information and materials to backup their world class support offering.
